Overton Thompson

Overton is Director of Franchising at VaVia and Co-Owner of our Nashville franchise. He oversees development and support for each franchise. He develops financial models for prospective franchisees to use in their assessment of our franchise opportunity, and walks prospects through the legal documents, agreements, and closing process. Overton supports our franchise owners in growing their business through coaching, sharing best practices, and monthly evaluating the state of their business to identify potential areas of improvement. He developed a completely searchable digital operations manual, which provides in-depth guidance to franchise owners on how to run their business safely and efficiently with minimal overhead.

Technology drives our vision here at VaVia and Overton coordinated the design, development, and implementation of our custom software solution, CanTrack, which provides customers with up-to-the-minute location data on their waste container order.

Overton earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accounting from Southern Methodist University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Prior to his current role, Overton was VaVia’s Director of Finance/Operations. As the first employee of VaVia, he is grateful to Phillip and the other partners for the opportunity to partner with VaVia. Since he has never had a good sense of smell, he feels like he was born to work in the waste business. His favorite part of what he does for VaVia is the constant engagement. There is always something to do or someone to help.

A Nashville native, Overton and his wife Virginia live in Nashville with their two dogs, Stella (an Anatolian Shepherd) and Teddy (a Red Lab). When he is not solving problems at work, you can find him on a golf course, or hunting and fishing with his dogs.
